hallo everybuddy! i was pretty occupied with some personal issues and lab works, errrr actually still am, so purleeese excuse the lack of activity here!
so it’s the time of the month again where Eastin Hotel Penang invites media and floggers to have a food tasting for its buffet menu!
i deem it as a monthly ritual floggers gathering hehe since usually we are engaged in our own work, only time like this that we get to actually sit down and catch up and eat, of course! floggers live to eat yo! and also, i like that we can take our own sweet time to snap, noone will give us ‘the look’! most of my friends are no blogger, so i normally faititly feast my camera first (snap a shot or two) and then return the dish to its owner, paiseh if i make them wait too long :/
for this November, do expect cuisine influence from the south America – Mexico & Texas with some local touch.
this time around, young and upcoming chefs took over the lead, Chef Kelvin Tan (left) and Chef Evon Chiang. i thought they did put up a great show!
one of the appetizer served was nachos.
this Mexican tortilla chips are served with 3 different dips, ranch BBQ, chili con carne ( a Texan chili-with-meat sauce) and guacamole (avocado-based). my favourites would be ranch BBQ and chili con carne, they complimented nachos well! capsicum smell in guacamole was too overpowering me no likey.
Burrito Mustard Bites
juliennes of vegetable and meat encased in a wheat flour tortilla spread with mustard. mustard is the westernized wasabi! and i love it cos it managed to cover the ‘smelliness’ of capsicum. sorry capsicum and i are just not meant to be. the tortilla was a tad dry when we had it though.
Classic Beef Ribs Stew resting on a bed of Grilled Vegetables with coyote canyon red chile sauce
here came the mains! this stewed meat was flavourful, tender and chewy. i enjoyed it muchy and i am not really a beef person to begin with! Jacgy tried to convince me that grilled capsicum is sweeter, but to no avail. thanks but no thanks!
Crispy Cheesy Potato Skin
i can have this in replace of Lay’s while potato couching! it’s not exactly made up of potato skin, just to indicate that it’s as thin as its skin! tops with cheese and heaven we went and came back wtf. if and only if they were crispier.
Grill Wild Honey Chicken
the skin was the essence of this dish. i just had to, it looked alluring and tempting. it’s crispy and sweetish. the meat however was slightly dry and bland.
Fish Tostadas Veracruzana Salsa
it’s my most favouritest dish of that day! flaky fish covered in tomato-based sauce and topped with some olives! the flesh was so soft and almost melted in my mouth! and the sauce was the bomb! sweetish cum sourish. oh so appetizing!
Texas Double Chocolate Mud Cake
Cowboy Raspberry Cobbler
last but not least, DESSERT!
i adored the smoothness on the mud cake while the cobbler might appear compact and stiff, it actually disintegrated nicely in my mouth. i had to bite it bits by bits just so i can enjoy it longer! what a great way to end our lovely lunchy eh!
you can enjoy this spread of buffet too at only RM 48++ and above! make a reservation NOW at +604 6121128!
