Golden Triangle @ Eastin Hotel

i was invited by Eastin Hotel Penang to have a food tasting session for their upcoming April Golden Triangle Promotion at its in-house coffee house, Swez Brasserie.

an delectable selection of dishes from Laos, Myanmar and Thailand were done by the skillful guest Chef Tan Kian Seng (right) who is specializing in Golden Triangle cuisine, acquiring more than 20 years of experience working in hotels and outlets such as Sunway Hotel, D Garden Hotel, Langkawi Khun Thai Seafood Restaurant and Golden Valley Chinese & Thai Seafood Restaurant.

so rest assured the food quality can be guaranteed!

between these two appetizers, i truly enjoyed the duck salad. duck is my favourite meat, followed by porkie!

Main Course

Tom Yam Gung (spicy prawn soup with lemongrass and chilli)

Tom Yam Gung (spicy prawn soup with lemongrass and chilli)

this tom yam was really spicy with the right tinge of sourness. Henry was all perspiring as if it’s raining above his head boo LOL!

Golden Triangle @ Eastin Hotel
Gaeng Keaw Wan Gai (Thai green curry chicken)

this curry broth is really thick and fragrant goes really well with rice! however the colour freaked me out a little. it’s as if i was chewing on The Hulk :/

Golden Triangle @ Eastin Hotel
Mohinga (Burmese fish noodles)

Mohinga is basically a bowl of smooth and soft noodles drenched in fish soup topped with shredded fish flesh which is usually eaten as brekkie in Burma. it’s something like our laksa, but muchy more milder version one!

Or Lam (Laos green vegetables stew)

Khao Mok Gai (Laos steamed rice with fried chicken)

Khao Mok Gai (Laos steamed rice with fried chicken)

the rice resembles muchy like nasi briyani, laden with spices, robust with flavour.

Desserts

Golden Triangle @ Eastin Hotel
Tab Tim Krob (water chesnut with cocnut milk)
Golden Triangle @ Eastin Hotel
Khow Neaw Ma Moang (mango sticky rice)

as usual, we finish the lucheon with delectable desserts! i wish the coconut used was thicker to enhance the creaminess of Tab Tim Krob!
