Happy Two Oh Fifteen, Anteaders! i wish all of us stay safe, stay fit, stay gorgeous and stay positive in this new year and coming years! i know my wishing came a lil’ late, still, better late than never right!
my 2014 ended rather calmly. three of us of whom i haven’t met for monthsss had a cozy pasta dinner, homemade by bffwb and sloughing at couch after that, updating each other’s life. among three, i think mine is the most mediocre. Pearly spent three (tough) months in Cameroon (not Cameron) while bffwb’s doing PhD in NUS. me? just an ordinary office lady who writes a lousy blog :/.
and then suddenly it’s 2015 now! time, can go slow or not? anyway,
first post of 2015 has got to be this cafe visited on the first day of 2015! public holiday is bliss!
January 2015 [Thursday]
i discovered Backlane Coffee totally by chance. was strolling along Jonker Street with Theng, and i was attracted by a huge price tag of RM 5 – 20 on a clothing rack, being women, we entered the premise and Backlane Coffee is located at the rear part of the premise. didn’t snap a photo of the facade, but it’s right beside the stage at Jonker Street. we didn’t went in that time as Theng doesn’t take coffee at all. i did jot it down in my mental evernote though.
on New Year Day, bffwb and i were on a cafe-hopping mood, unfortunately many of them closed on public holiday. what a bummer! that’s how we ended up at Backlane Coffee…
this cafe is exactly how i envision my future cafe (if i ever own one) will be. large windows which allow ample natural light, white bricks wall, uncrowded, chic industrial elements and some DIYs here and there!
it’s really cozy in there and the furniture’s great for potato-couching. we could have spent hours just slumping unglamly on the chairs, sipping (few) cuppa coffees and do some light reading. Backlane Coffee sets the right vibe for it, however, what’s lacking was, books.
bffwb was feeling a tad under the weather, so he had to wean himself from coffee and had some honey tea to soothe his throat.
while i had this beautiful smooth latte with senget coffee art. i think my heart is slowly accepting caffeine as i didn’t experience any palpitation after downing this whole cup on my own!
Backlane Coffee offers macarons and some cakes for you to nibble on while having coffee/chocolate/tea. but i do think they should include some light food like waffle or pancake to accommodate customers who don’t have sweet tooth, like us.
if you’re in the vicinity of Jonker Street, why not stop by Backlane Coffee and have a cuppa coffee, who knows you’d fall in love with the space, like me. 😉
