hallo Anteaders! gong hei fatt choy! i hope this Fire Rooster (turkey?) year be kind to all of us. good health good career good relationship good eberything XD.
and here’s first post in 2017 on Being Antventurous! yesh i changed the blog name. cos AntzWorLd sounded too juvenile and now that I am an adult (ahem), Being Antventurous sounds more adult, i think.
speaking of this 486 Baba Low, i have always wanted to try this eatery since forever (my makan list is endless, guys). one of my resolutions for this new year is, to seize my weekend instead of just nua-ing at home. and my ex-intern was in town, so i grabbed the opportunity to bring her for brekkie!
Waze brought us right in front of the shop but i was a lil’ skeptical at first. is this really the Baba Low? i hived a sigh when i saw the pricing board!
as you can see, the menu is pretty straightforward. laksa. mee siam. nasi lemak. popiah. pai tee (pie tee/top hats). cendol. kuihs. and some beverages.
a decadent bowl of yellow mee drenched in creamy laksa broth, topped with the norms – tofupok, cucumber julienne, half an hard-boiled egg, fish balls and cockles.
i had a spoon of the mee and broth, yummy! it’s spicy and robust with flavour. the spiciness is actually considered as mild, according to my tastebud.
mee hoon drenched in tangy broth topped with fish cakes, half and egg, cucumber jullienne and sambal.
i love having mee siam in the morning for its tanginess and mild kick, it’s an instant wake-me-up!
crispy thin hat filled with julienne of stir fried sengkuang, cucumber, fried egg.
this is one of my favourite Nyonya side dish! must order whenever it’s on the menu. but i felt like the filling is too dry especially the egg strips.
this bowl of dessert was a slight letdown. it’s mediocre without the gula Melaka fragrant, something that i adore in cendol.
bought putu mayam from this vendor. oh i haven’t had one for long! best eaten with hands!
i was there on a Saturday morning, was expecting crowd but glad that it wasn’t! we took our own sweet time to enjoy the brekkie and the owner was kind enough to accommodate me snapping away!
