A vacation that is spent at one’s home enjoying all that home and one’s home environs have to offer. (source: Urban Dictionary)
as you all might not know, postgraduate life can be pretty stressful. endless experiments to run (i am on research mode), infinite journals to read, unending datelines to meet :(. so i thought a staycation would be great for a little relaxation over the weekend, together with my BFF, LeeChing! instead of our home, we had a 2D1N stay at the luxurious Eastern & Oriental Hotel 😀
Established by the famed Armenian Sarkies Brothers in 1885, whose architectural landmarks also include the Raffles Hotel in Singapore, the Eastern & Oriental (E&O) Hotel in Penang island is the only hotel in the heart of the George Town UNESCO World Heritage Site that possesses prime sea frontage. over its century-and-a-quarter history, the E&O Hotel has played host to some of the world’s most celebrated artists, writers and heads of state.
previously, there’s 100 luxurious all-suites at Heritage Wing of E&O Hotel. and early this year, the Victory Annexe, the new wing of the E&O Hotel has finally opened its door to the world after muchy anticipation! and that’s where LC & i spent a great night together!
the whole lobby screams elegance and posh.
we headed to E&O Hotel after having lunchy together. reached a tad earlier and luckily our room was ready. we managed to check in before the usual check-in time (3pm).
check-in was a brisk one, i just had to give them the confirmation number and a debit card (student ma) for deposit. the receptionist was super attentive and friendly (especially the ahem good-looking chap /shy).
walkway to our room was pretty dim. and at this point we were pretty excited as this’s our first staycation!
and here’s our room!
our room was Superior Suite which comes with a super fluffy king-sized bed! i requested for an extra bed (which is chargeable) to accommodate my bffs hehe
a work desk and a tv console which houses a tv (duh!), coffee machine, kettle, glasses and a mini fridge! sorry forgot to take a picture with the doors open. but it’s in the video ↓!
non-alcoholic beverages from the in-suite minibar are complimentary!
so coincidentally Ken (of KenHuntFood.com) was there too! so i paid a visit to his room which was a corner suite fuyoh! we explored the coffee machine together haha, it’s our first time operating coffee machine and it’s actually quite easy, just follow the instructions given and a espresso is ready in seconds!!!
LC & i were literally :O at the sight of our bathroom! OHMAAIGAAAWD!
i just love everything in the bathroom! the tiles, the bathtub!!!, the HUGEEEE mirror!!!!!
the twin vanities (and twin wardrobes) !!!
that’s how i want my future bathroom to be! because my other half is so annoyingly-meticulous-cum-tidy-freak! and with this twin vanities, i could mess up my territory however i likey and he couldn’t sound a word!
the bathroom is equipped with rain shower head. i can shower forever man wtf.
haih it’s such a shame that i didn’t have the time to have a nice bathe la.. even bath salt is prepared in a nice small wooden tub 🙁
toiletries available at your disposal too!
i actually compiled a few short clips together to make this footage including a complete room tour, showing you around Victory Annexe of E&O Hotel! show me some love and watch it (in HD) okie <3
there’s a pivate balcony at our room, which overlook the sea and swimming pool! too bad i didn’t spot any hot hunk!
Ken & i went to explore some of the facilities at Victory Annexe.
guest staying at the Victory Annexe gets to gain exclusive access to the 6th floor where Fitness Centre, Planters Lounge and Swimming Pool are located.
i am sure this fully-equipped gym can satiate your work-out desire. and you get to work out overlooking the sea!
the only thing that i can recognize there is treadmill, others seem outlandish to me :/
so we camwhored instead 😀
infinity pool baybeh! which is only 1.2m deep! haha
Poolside Terrace for light refreshment and cocktails.
daily breakfasts and complimentary coffee and tea with accompaniments throughout the day as well as evening cocktails with canapes at The Planters Lounge from 5 – 7 pm, all these are included in the all-encompassing room rate!
both al-fresco and indoor seating are available. if it was a cooler day, we might opt for outdoor, imagine reveling in wine while letting sea breeze brush against your cheeks, such is life :D! too bad it was a warm evening..
privacy is rest-assured as only guests staying at Victory Annexe are allowed access to The Planters Lounge 😉
LC & i munched on quite a bit as we had our lunchy quite early and we were famished :/
we had a great time sipping our wines and acted all demure and atas ala tai-tai style 😀
and then we went back to the room and get ready and dressed up for dinner!
twin vanities so convenient, each of us occupied one corner and we had a mirror each to ourselves 😀
we had our dinner at China House! do click on the link and read my review on it 🙂
took some night views from my room. speaking of night view, i still think Hong Kong has the most magnificent one! not that i have been to many countries la.
hehe invited my two other bffs to stayover together! in case you forgot who they are, from left to right,
SeakFen | HuiKee | yourstruly in pjs | LeeChing
this was the last shot before the battery went flat (manyak potong steam =.=). luckily LC brought her compact which saved my life. a blogger without a camera is like a handicap. (i didn’t mean to discriminate ar)
they complimented that the room was berry classy and all! and they mad love the bathroom as well! oh well, girls being girls! haha
haih it has been ages since we had pillow talk! i miss us together..
guess what we were watching while poker-ing?
TITANIC! LOL! we lamented how Leonardo Dicaprio has grown so muchy horizontally! 😛
we certainly had soundly sleep! like of course! with high tread count sheets and comforter and soft and fluffy pillows, how not to sleep tight? 🙂
we woke up really fresh and we decided to go for a quick dip before brekkie!
sorry ar no bikini photo cos we have nothing to flaunt la :/
guest has the choice of having breakkie at Sarkies or The Planters Lounge, we chose the latter as i have had dined at Sarkies twice.
food selection at The Planters Lounge is not as extensive as Sarkies, but i do prefer the ambiance here more. maybe because it’s less crowded and the couches are more cosy!
there’s the usual here, cereals, breads, homemade jams, cheese, fruits, sausages, hams, sauteed fungi, juices, and milks.
the unusual (as in american’s brekkie) smoked salmon which i had many rounds of and also sauteed mushroom despite they are a lil’ oily.
i ordered an omelette with loads of cheese and tomato sans capsicum! which i cheekily decorated it into a smiley 🙂
put on a smile to kick start every day 🙂
after our scrumptious brekkie, Ms Eileen Chong (Communications and Public Relations Manager of E&O Hotel) took us on a tour to Heritage Wing!
we were brought to Bombay Shop where
damage shopping can be done!
there’s stuff ranging from purses to accessories designed by a local artist, Jonathan Yun, and from keychain to recipe books!
i like how the lobby at Heritage Wing oozes vintagey and classic elegance. original colonial style is well-preserved it seems 🙂
i actually booked us an afternoon tea to complete the whole tai-tai experience, but i had to reschedule it as they were changing the restaurant’s carpet =.=. and one thing that’s missing from E&O Hotel is, Y U NO SPA!!! that would have made our stay a more complete relaxation, physically AND mentally! 😀
nonetheless, my girls and i were rejuvenated after a night of good good rest and freed our minds temporarily from academically stuff! and i really treasure the precious bonding time we had with this sleepover since we don’t get to meet very often (HK & SF are working adults, and thanks Boon for lending me SF for a night :P).
so ladies, when’s the last time you have a sleepover with your bffs? why not revive the moments at this posh and elegant Eastern & Oriental Hotel? *wink wink*

LC left her stuff behind at the room and she only realized the next day after we check-ed out. i managed to retrieve it after giving a phone call to the hotel. i was really really satisfied with the service provided at Eastern & Oriental Hotel! and i salute for your honestness, Housekeeping team 🙂
