if you have never heard of Tous Les Jours, i have no idea man, it’s either you’re not living in Asean countries, or you’re living deep inside of forest.
me, the avid social media follower, of course have heard about it! seriously, how could i not? it’s blasted on the social media sites i am active on. and it didn’t help when you befriend with so many bloggers. it’s almost the in thing to do, breakfast at tiffany is so yesteryear.
when i was in KL two weekends ago (procrastination improves abit hor!), i summoned us to wake up early just so we could have breakfast there. i had to okie.
Tous Les Jours (pronounced as too lay joo), a Korean-owned bakery franchise is located at the heart of Kuala Lumpur or more precisely, basement of WOLO Hotel which is within walking distance from Capitol Hotel, where we put up the night before.
on a side note, Capitol Hotel is great for a short staycation if hotel’s facility isn’t your concern. Its location is what won us over, Lowyat Plaze is just across the street and Times Square is a stone’s throw away, literally. so yeah, definitely recommend Capitol Hotel for couple’s or bff’s staycation cos there’s many fancy restaurants, lounge and entertainment around. we ended up staying in at night anyway.
okay back to Tous Les Jours…
you’ll be instantly mesmerizes by the aroma of freshly baked pastry lingering in the space upon entering Tous Les Jours. and then your eyes started wandering around cos there’s just so many many enticing pastry to look at, where shall i start…
told my companion to go grab some breads for us to share while i was queuing to place order (and pay). and obviously they judged the breads by their looks, not feeling guilty at all though…
Tous Les Jours serves mains and salad other than bread and pastry. though the one-page menu seems limited, we did had a hard time placing our order *facepalm*.
i absolutely adore the high-ceiling and brick wall! not forgetting the immense natural light streaming through the large windows.
our favourite in chronological order would be Tuna Floss, Fruit Pastry, Apple Crumb Danish. i love the bonito flakes (katsuobushi) sprinkled on Tuna Floss and the crisp and airy pastry (mad love!) of Fruit Pastry. Apple Crumb Danish was overly cloyingly sick.
beverages were mediocre. my hot chocolate was…o…k…
three thick and fluff french toast topped with whipped cream, served with caramelized banana slices, pecan and maple syrup. the portion could serve two! Theng gave each of us half a slice and she’s still struggling to finish the lot. wtf.
my Egg Ben made up of poached egg and turkey ham sandwiched between English muffin bun with a piece of ham (which i requested, to replace beef bacon) and salad on the side! portion was alright, the hollandaise sauce was spot on, but i couldn’t say the same for the yolk. yolk is like the 灵魂 of Egg Benedict, it should be runny and flowy, which sadly didn’t happened.
the price is however surprisingly attractive despite its location!
from the Hot Sandwich menu, we had this ham + melty gruyere cheese sandwiched between sourdough, served with salad as well. i would appreciate if they could slice the bread thicker, it was limp, tasted good though.
Among all dishes, this Cheese Mushroom & Ham Omelette is the least substantial in my opinion, suitable for small appetite. the omelette was a tad dry and not cheesy enough.
if i were the old me, who once couldn’t live without bread, Tous Les Jours (which translated to daily) would be my favouritest place of all. just look at their array of breads and pastries! if you’re here for breakfast, just a word of advice, be early.
you can also find Tous Les Jours at Bangsar, Empire Shopping Gallery and Empire Damansara.
