{Shanghai} Ice Cream Cookies @ Nom Nom Dessert Bar

October 19th, 2013 [Saturday]

right after our dinner at this magnificent Sichuan restaurant – Shun Xing, we adjoined to Nom Nom Dessert Bar which is located just across the road, at the lobby of the Metrobank office building. we took a short stroll along the bustling Yan’An Xi Lu in a breezy weather. arghhh i miss Autumn!

Nom Nom Dessert Bar is the first Western dessert bar (!!!) in Shanghai which has just opened its door to Shanghainese in Spring 2003, muchy to expats’ delights! Nom Nom is a joint venture between American-style cookies delivery company in Shanghai, Strictly Cookies and homemade ice cream and Belgian waffles  purveyor, Canadian Snow Maple Desserts.

Nom Nom is actually sited at a typical Chinese office establishment, that might sound amusing. but kudos to them, they have earned themselves loyal local clientele, which most of them are walk-in customers. it’s good that China people are slowly accepting foreign dessert culture!

i was instantly mesmerized by the aroma of the sweet cookies once entering the premise! an instant stimulant although i don’t really have a sweet tooth!

these beautiful small but thick cookies were baked freshly eberyday!

where magic happens daily. 😀

you might see them in action if you’re early. too bad we were there an hour before it’s closed.

you may choose how you wanna have your dessert: cookie + ice cream/ waffle + ice cream. or you may just have cookie/ice cream/waffle as it is!

we chose Ice Cream Cookie..

Amanda grinning ear to ear while holding her Ice Cream Cookie for my camera!

i hope my future daughter is just as adorable as her!

this is how you can have your cookie + ice cream combo..

you may opt for Ice Cream Cookie Sandwich. a scoop of ice cream/gelato between two cookies.

just look at how Aaron beam, you know it’s GOOD.

i tell you ar, they are the typical banana kiddos who hate eberything Chinese-related but worship western culture. but too bad they will be stuck at this China-land for a few years, at least. FTL :P. Nom Nom will be their favourite place in Shanghai i can foresee! haha

and that’s how you should gobble it down.

and here’s mine. an extremely sinful Chocolate Brownie paired with a scoop of tangy mango sorbet at 45 RMB (~ RM 25). not cheap but imported goods is expensive in China anyway.

the cookie was sooo rich and moist. yum.

if you’re traveling in Shanghai and got bored with all the Chinese food, this western dessert bar is gonna be a perfect place for you! to refresh your palate! 😉
