BlabberBee back again with another review! This time it’s on a drugstore brand cause I like to experiment with whatever’s in the market. If you are able to get a cheaper alternative, why not? *grins*
The well-talked about drugstore brand for foundations has definitely gotta be REVLON. I have been using REVLON foundations for the longest time. I think my first compact foundation was REVLON 2-way Whitening Powder Foundation back when I was 20 (Still young btw
). Then I tried L’Oréal True Match which didn’t leave me too pleased as I always ended up a tone lighter. I don’t know why as the SA personally helped me picked my foundation both times.
Yes, I tried the compact foundation and liquid one. Not pleased with both. But it suits my mom though.
Ok, back to REVLON. These 3 years I’ve been religiously buying REVLON foundations.

I bought the REVLON Beyond Natural 05 Sand Beige compact, REVLON PhotoReady Natural Ochre compact, REVLON PhotoReady 004 Nude liquid foundation and REVLON PhotoReady Color Correcting Primer.

When compacts are finishing, you’ll always end up with the product on the sides which makes it difficult to use without breaking them. As you can see, I’ve already broken one of them and so I had to press some more to make them into powders. I used to throw the powdered foundation into my loose powder container but I stopped doing so because the application is difficult as the powders aren’t as fine as the original loose powder thus causing your makeup to feel a little bit heavy and clogging up the holes in the container. Point to remember babes.
I love love love REVLON Beyond Natural cause it gives the best coverage that matches your skin tone! I looked as if I had no makeup on! It’s that good! But unfortunately this product was discontinued so the remains of my compact are very precious to me. I only use it for formal occasions.

My review today is on REVLON PhotoReady liquid foundation as it’s the current one I’m using.

REVLON claims that PhotoReadyTM Makeup leaves a poreless, airbrushed skin in any light. Photochromatic pigments bend and reflect light to erase every flaw. Complete yet undetectable coverage with soft, luminous finish. It is oil-free, fragrance free and with SPF 20.
My claims:
I started with the compact before I changed to liquid foundation a few months ago. It was on sale in Guardian for 50% so I HAD to get it. I bought a shade darker though as I didn’t check the shade when I purchased it. I assumed that whatever’s behind the TESTER is the same. *hits myself in the head*Oh well, I preferred this mistake as I don’t look as pale as my original skin tone. This shade gave me a healthier glow as compared to my compact which is the same tone as my skin.
As you would have known, I have oily skin thus I’m very particular when it comes to choosing liquid foundations that doesn’t leave me shining like a diamond within an hour or so. Compact foundations suit oily skins better but liquid foundations looked more natural in my opinion. Compacts tend to leave me looking a bit powdery. Since this product is oil-free, it does leave me shine-free for like 4-6 hours before I needed blotting.
The product comes in a glass bottle and you can pump out the foundation through a black pump that allows you to control the amount you want. The foundation is pretty light weight and a small dollop can be blended on your whole face. It gives a medium to full coverage. It creates an even skin tone so you look natural with a slight shimmer on your face as it has photochromatic pigments that reflects light so that you would photograph well. I conclude my makeup with loose powder.

Can you see the shimmery pigments?
A word of advice for foundation users: REMEMBER TO USE CLEANSING MILK OR MAKEUP REMOVER BEFORE YOUR NORMAL CLEANSER! Never ever cleanse once as foundations cannot be removed with just your normal cleanser.
Don’t believe me?

As you can see, there are still shimmery pigments on my hand after cleansing with my normal cleanser. These can build up and clog pores causing blackheads and pimples. Do remember to double cleanse before you sleep!
I will review on cleansing milk soon. Wow. I have many products lined up for review actually. O.O
Pros:
1) Medium to full coverage
2) Light weight
3) Photochromatic pigments leave a radiant finish
4) Lasts 4-6 hours with minimal shine
5) SPF 20
Cons:
1) Photochromatic pigments have a downside for me as the shimmer doesn’t make it ideal for casual everyday wear. A different foundation or BB cream is needed.
Conclusion
you get a natural look that photographs well. The pigments leave a dewy finish too. Will I repurchase? Yes! For a drugstore brand, REVLON has definitely stood out as one of the leading brands in foundations. If you’re a first timer or you would like to save money on foundations, do try REVLON’s range of foundations. I do recommend REVLON as it stood by me through the years.
REVLON Colorstay foundation is said to be suitable for oily skinned people but I am not interested as the bottle comes without a pump that makes it difficult to control the amount of foundation to apply. To make matters worse, the opening is pretty big making me even more disappointed. But you can always try the compact ones.
Guardian has a sale going on for REVLON PhotoReady compact. Each compact come with a refill for only RM60+ (I don’t remember the exact price sorry). A compact costs somewhere there so with a refill, this is definitely worth getting if you’re already comfortable with this product. (i’m so gonna go get it!)
Price for drugstore foundations be it compact or liquid is normally around RM50+ to RM60+. It’s definitely cheaper than counter brand ones that cost >RM100. Do keep a lookout for Guardian and Watson as they have many promotions on cosmetic brands. Sometimes you’ll get them pretty cheap like when I bought my REVLON liquid foundation from Guardian for RM20+ last time. *winks*

I tried liao their loose powder in Watson. Also not that nice. Doesnt leave a smooth and soft finish like the one we tried in Jakarta. The container is smaller compared to the one we tried in Jakarta. Maybe you can try Cyber Colors la. Last time I used not bad wo. I think RM58. Can tunggu Sasa sales then beli lo. Can cheaper still. LOL.
eh yahor. i forgot we tried that together =.=|||
then i shall just wait for Sasa sales, in the meantime leech off mami’s loose powder wtf
