continued from here!
Day 1 (December 7th, 2012)

so the earliest we could check in was 11am, with surcharge of 120baht which we thought was reasonable. there’s still 45mins to go before we could enter our rooms, brunch we went! lugging all our luggages together cos we were too cheap to pay 40baht each for safe keeping at hotel.
We asked the front desk staff for lunchy recommendation. She directed us to the back lane of hotel. We just wanna have a quick brunch so we heeded.

Assorted condiments like homemade chilli sauce, ajinomoto, fish sauce, and chilli flakes available in case you need extra flavoring.

Sugar cane beverage in bottles!

Tom Yum | 50 baht (RM 5)
Yesh my first meal was Tom Yam, of course! I couldn’t wait any longer
but it was pretty disappointing. I can simply find a better one here lo.

Chicken Rice
=.=||| right? went all the way there and had chicken rice tsk
the food was below average in our opinions.
after bruching & checking into our room, off we went for shopping! first stop was Lee Garden Plaza! and after awhile of walking, Karen felt that her energy was running low she needed a boost from FOOD again.

Pork Noodle Soup
it was one of the best thing we had in Hat Yai! yala all of us had a taste of it hehe. the broth was so flavourful and porkie was sooo soft and tender! it was from the first stall at the Food Court!

Mango Glutinous Rice
in between we had some snacks from the stalls in front of Lee Garden Plaza. slices of sweeeeet mango made the glutinous not so jelak. this is one of the must-eat when you’re on the land of Thai i reckon!

Conunut Ice Cream
all of us preferred this! the ice cream was unforgettably fine and refreshing! we went back for more for the next two days but the vendor was nowhere to be seen T___________T.

Sausage Wrapped with Bacon
i had this for three days consecutively as tea break snack! bacon is heavenly! 7/11 is one of the best place in Hatyai! we religiously patronised several times a day at different outlet.

for dinner, we had a authentic Thai meal!

Tom Yum

Green Curry in coconut milk

Stir Fried Asparagus with Shrimp

Steamed Fish

Braised Fish Maw
it was a scrumptious dinner! portion was alright too to be shared among seven of us. the bill came up to around 150 baht (RM 15) per head.
Day 2 (December 8th, 2012)
day two morning was spent at Hat Yai Old Market where you can find almost everything you wanna buy, ranging from clothings to shoes, from dried sea products to titbits!
but before we started shopping,

we had brekkie here.

Pork Leg Rice
pork leg rice is another dish you might wanna try out when you’re here or any part of Thailand! you’ll get slices of pork leg flesh + fatty bom bomm served with some greens, a well-balanced diet for brekkie
i asked for less fatty when ordering though.
if you’re in Penang and you wanna have a taste of it, head to Genting Cafe located at Island Glades. they also sell the best chee cheong fun!

Dry Mee
pretty fulfilling Karen said, although it seemed like the portion was small.

Karen & Dom, both Sarawakian have never seen a pomegranate before. so must take photo to commemorate the moment! they have never tasted a mangosteen until recently. gulp!

lucky me, i grew up eating it cos popo planted one at car porch.

commercial break. them in a tuk-tuk! after we have done all the damage (to the poor wallet).

Dom, Karen & I had a deletable chop for lunchy at one of the western food chain which i’ll blog about it in a separate post

and then we took tuk-tuk to Big C. it’s sort of like our tesco here, but 10x better. the food has muchy more variety! and i was attracted by this at Aunty Anne’s

something you couldn’t find in Malaysia

it’s fragrant and crispy, perfect as tea break!

for dinner, we got a quick fix at 7/11! it’s my dream to have a meal in 7/11, standing at one corner and sluuuurping away. weird but true /shy.

but too bad, it’s tooo crowded it’s impossible to stand still as people kept pushing us away wtf. so no choice, we ended up sitting by road side. it’s okay because noone knows us there, we didn’t feel paiseh at all. some aunties saw us and kept saying eh like not bad (the cup noodles).
Day 3 (December 9th, 2012)
on our last morning at Hat Yai, we walked into random coffee shop for brekkie.

Pork Leg Rice again!
i can’t get enough of the porkie!

while they had roast porkie rice!
we wandered for one last round (read: last minute shopping) before we has lunchy again at our favourite shop!

seven eleven!!!
see they have myriads of instant food. malaysia’s 7/11 Y U NO HAVE???

had cup noodles again! this time we used one of the standing freezer as table top
and we stood there eating like locals did!

that’s Dom showing how we used the lids as pointy bowl!

commercial break again.
ohai that’s me with wedding cars in front of Lee Garden Plaza. kiuuut aren’t they?

nostalgic bottle of sprite. when’s the last time you seen one?

and then we stumbled upon one cute cafe which i’ll blog about it later.

some of the titbits i bought! most of them are porky! mad love! and they are prised at only 15baht each. lays at 20 baht! seaweeds 15-20 baht! cheap or not!
that’s all for what i ate in Hat Yai! detailed post coming up later in the week!
have a happy week ahead everybuddy!
Looks like we can get most if not all of the stuff here… Probably a lot cheaper there than at our Thai restaurants? Ooooo…I love that mango pulut dessert. Didn;t have durian? I love than too…even more, in fact! Yum! Yum!

there more authentic ma. like how we can get sarawak laksa here, but taste not nice one
there’s durian ice cream in Indonesia! but we didn’t try any street food. their hygiene level is… *shake head*. Jakarta was bad, Bandung not too bad! might go back for MORE shopping and sight seeing!
