i was running errand at Little India together with labmates cum lunchy buddies the other day. we were pondering what-to-mum for lunchy, and G suggested Chai Diam Ma and i quickly said YESH excitedly since i have not tried it before while ALL of them went without me some time ago tsk.

handmade dolls for sale. keychains, accessories, clothing and some other knick-knack can be seen all around the cafe, which are up for sale too!

btw, chai diam ma meant sundry shop in hokkien! i’m so used to chap fo pou (cantonese) though.

the al-fresco area. it was a rather hot day, so we opted indoor, with comfy couch.

and i learn that most of the furnitures are actually recycled. that’s why they look run-down. but i can assure you they are sturdy!

stairs leading to art gallery. i didn’t go up though. cos i’m not an artsy-fartsy person.

the menu is limited but they do have some daily specials which vary from day to day. and because the dishes are prepared fresh, hence the waiting time is slightly longer compared to other cafe.

one last snapshot of the interior of the cafe before proceeding to food!

Watermelon Juice | RM 5; Honey Lemon | RM 6; Passion Fruit Milkshake; RM 8

Cele said the juice was tasteless. i looked back at the menu, it states ’100% fresh fruit & sugar free’. haiyo no wonder la :/.honey lemon was mediocre while the milkshake was decent, berry milky according to CC.

Lasagna with Meat Sauce | RM 14

CC loves this to bits! i had a spoon and it’s actually berry tasty, berry cheesy too! the salad served consisted slices of tomato, zucchini, capsicum and rocket leaves, with balsamic vinegar dressing, i think.

Baked Macaroni with Sausage & Ham | RM 14

Baked Macaroni with Bacon & Mushroom | RM 14

Penang: Dinner @ Mizi Bistro, New World Park

*another repost from the past

Penang: Dinner @ Mizi Bistro, New World Park

people has been telling me, Mizi serves the BEEEEEST mushrrom soup! the last time i had one decent one was from De Title (which the post has gone T_T). and the most recent one was the diluted starchy one from Pizza Hut *boo*. so when my friends suggested to have dinner there on my birthday, i hurriedly nodded YESH!

Penang: Dinner @ Mizi Bistro, New World Park

it’s a pretty cosy bistro. and when we were there, it’s packed to the brim. luckily my friends were there earlier hence managed to secure a seat! phew!

Penang: Dinner @ Mizi Bistro, New World Park

the menu is a tad worn out. this means that so many people have been patronising their restaurant! which is a good thing right? each of us ordered a set meal which comprises a drink, a soup of your choice, main course ranging from pasta, poultry, seafood, egg, sandwiches, vegetarian to salad (salad as main course?) plus eat-all-you-can ice cream as dessert! all these for RM 25! berry reasonable RIGHT. or you can choose your main course from meat, Chef’s specialties or smoked salmon with an additional RM 6 charges.

everyone of us ordered tea as drink.  some had peach tea (like me) while others ordered lemon tea.

we JUST HAD TO order their mushroom soup | RM 9 (a la carte price). and YESH it’s thick and creamy. and you can actually feel that there’s REAL mushroom in it. CY said that THIS, is the real mushroom soup.

complimentary bread with cube butters. the bread was okay. i would prefer soften butter though. cos the harden ones were so hard to be spread on the bread =.=

Spaghetti al Cozze  | RM 16 (a la carte price)

SF & bf shared this, the other three of us tasted it and thought it’s pretty decent with some spiciness. it’s something like Spaghetti All’ Aragosta E Gamberithat i had in Bella Marino (which i have yet to repost). except this time was mussels instead of slipper lobsters.

five of us ordered four set meals. SF and her bf shared one as they just had late lunchy not long ago at Prangin Mall.

Chicken Piccatta | RM 16.80 (a la carte price)

CY and I ordered the same main. the piece of chicken was dipped in barter made of egg and cheese and fried to perfection. it was served with greens and pasta. CY and i find that the herb flavour (we didn’t know what it was) was a tad overpowering. and the chicken slice was errrr, weird. it must be the herb! when i went through the menu again while drafting this post, it’s rosemary. it’s overly scented. =.=

Penang: Dinner @ Mizi Bistro, New World Park

SR’s steamed fish, MY Dream | RM 16 (a la carte price). what a name haha! two slices of fish were served on a bed of sautéed spinach drown in cream sauce. it was a bit bland. but the fish was fresh! though i don’t remember what fish it was =.=

Penang: Dinner @ Mizi Bistro, New World Park

my girls and their boys. LOL. my stupid boy was away to Aussie for work (then) during my birthday pfft. and HK was absent cos she was at Thailand! four of us (the ladies plus HK) are actually classmates since F1! we have known each other for like *counts with fingers* TWELVE years Ohmaigod i feel old wtf. thanks for the treat wei Penang: Dinner @ Mizi Bistro, New World Park

Life

two of my relatives past away within a month, a bloke and an elderly. one cause of cancer while the other, kidney failure. i was pretty disturbed after receiving the news. although we are not really close, (we only meet once annually, during chinese new year) but they are the people that i have known since i was young. the elderly was the most optimistic cum happy-go-lucky person ever, there’s always laughters whenever he’s around. it was really saddening to see how they have suffered, the agonizing pain they borne with and how they battled against the illness bravely was inspiring.

we often take life for granted until something like this happened. and then we realized how fucking short, fragile and unexpected life is. that is why we have to take life seriously, live it to the fullest. so that one day, when it is our turn to leave the world *touchy wood*, we can look back and smile gratifiedly, and leave with no regret.
